The Control Techniques UNI1404 is part of the classic Unidrive series of fully digital pulse inverters. The manufacturer's operating instructions with article number 0174-0004 assign it to the size 1 and show 4.0 kVA rated device power. The associated maximum rated motor power is 2.2 kW or 3 HP; the previously visible 4.0 kW, however, belong to the next larger UNI1405. For the UNI1404, the performance table states 5.6 A rated device current. The maximum device current is 8.4 A for 60 seconds and 9.8 A for four seconds, whereby the four-second value explicitly only applies in closed loop. 9.5 A is also incorrect for this model and is assigned to the UNI1405 row. The device input current is 8.4 A in the table. The mains connection is documented with 3 AC 380 to 480 V ±10 percent and 48 to 62 Hz; the output voltage ranges from 3 AC 0 V to the respective mains voltage. For protection, Control Techniques names 10 A with fuse class gG HRC according to IEC 269. The size is self-ventilated, weighs 4 kg and is stated in this performance table as IP40. Unidrive supports V/f control, vector control with or without a speed encoder, brushless servo motor control and regenerative operation. The general data sheet states 0 to 2000 Hz in the open loop and 0 to 30,000 min⁻¹ in the closed loop. Before replacing, the complete type number, mains voltage class, motor power, control method, existing option modules, connections and parameterization must be compared; previous information on 4.0 kW, 9.0 A, 1000 Hz and the housing dimensions may not be adopted.
