Heidenhain 228943-03 is a ROD 1424 1250 H7 incremental rotary encoder from the ROD-1400 series. The exact version provides 1250 lines per revolution through two TTL square-wave signals and one reference pulse. Maximum scanning frequency is 300 kHz. Supply is 5 V ±10 %, with current consumption up to 120 mA without load. Mechanically permissible speed is 12,000 min⁻¹. A solid shaft with a diameter of 10 mm and H7 tolerance forms the rotor-side interface. Rotor moment of inertia is 2.1 × 10⁻⁶ kgm². Protection is IP67 at the housing and IP64 at the shaft inlet. The specified temperature range extends from −30 °C to +100 °C. Electrical connection uses a coded twelve-pin radial flange socket. The HEIDENHAIN drawing for the ROD-4x9 successor to the ROD-1400 housing shows a circular enclosure with a nominal diameter of 90.5 mm and an allowed positive deviation of 0.3 mm. The conservative maximum diameter of 90.8 mm is therefore used for complete dimensions. Overall axial depth including the protruding shaft is 75.3 mm. Complete external dimensions are consequently 90.8 × 90.8 × 75.3 mm. Documented device weight is approx. 0.4 kg. The three fastening points are distributed at 120° around the flange.
