The module provides a total of 2.8 MB integrated RAM, divided equally into 1.4 MB program memory and 1.4 MB data memory. Communication is handled by a combined MPI/PROFIBUS DP interface, an additional PROFIBUS DP interface and two slots for optical synchronization modules. The CPU is therefore designed for redundant H systems in which two subsystems operate synchronously and plant availability is a priority. The SIPLUS variant has a protective coating and is specified by Siemens for ambient temperatures from 0 to +60 °C.
