ABB AAD7001A is a regenerative dual converter in the VERITRON AAD series for controlled DC and servo drives. This classic ABB/BBC drive component is intended for applications in which motoring and regenerative braking must be controlled. The control electronics have a modular design: the documented complete control set for AAD 7001 A is AD 7002. AF 6002 serves as the front regulator board and is complemented by the AE 6004 second control board. The rear electronics tray contains the AM 6203 power supply. The power section uses twelve CS 250-12io1 thyristors. Cooling is provided by an R2E 225-AC01-13 fan with a single-phase 220 to 230 V supply at 50/60 Hz. The associated circuit-diagram set is GNT2 005 973. Analogue command and feedback signals are available for control: the speed-controller output covers 0 to ±10 V, while the main Iref command input covers 0 to -10 V. The current-controller output extends from -14 V through its neutral range to +14 V. These electrical data and the exact installed components are important because other AAD units in the 6, 7 and 8 groups may use different control boards or power semiconductors. Before installation, compare the nameplate, circuit diagram, terminal assignment, fan, thyristors, motor side, mains side and existing settings in full. ABB AAD7001A is intended for maintaining older machinery whose VERITRON drive must remain in service without changing the higher-level control system.
