Product description

The ABB PSE142-600-70 is a softstarter from the PSE series for three-phase motor circuits. ABB lists the device under product ID 1SFA897110R7000. Its maximum rated operational current is 142 A, and the permitted operating voltage ranges from 208 to 600 V AC. The electronics use a separate 100 to 250 V AC supply at 50 or 60 Hz. The PSE controls two phases with thyristors and operates exclusively in an in-line circuit. An integrated bypass carries the operating current after completion of the start ramp. PSE functions include an adjustable voltage ramp, torque control, and electronic motor overload protection. Operation uses a front-mounted HMI with a backlit LCD, status LEDs, and navigation keys. Run, top-of-ramp, and fault signals are available through potential-free output relays. External control commands use internal 24-V-DC control circuits; an analogue output is also provided. ABB documents motor ratings of 40 kW at 230 V, 75 kW at 400 V, and 90 kW at 500 V for the PSE142. PSE devices can be connected to fieldbus communication through an optional ABB FieldBusPlug. According to the installation manual, current derating is required at ambient temperatures above 40 °C. The unit is mounted vertically and requires the cooling clearances specified in the manual. For size PSE142, ABB specifies a width of 130 mm, a height of 295 mm, and a depth of 219.5 mm. The documented weight is 4.2 kg. The complete PSE142-600-70 type number uniquely distinguishes current size, mains voltage class, and control voltage within the PSE series.
