The Mitsubishi Electric FX2N-232IF processes serial data between the PLC and an external RS-232C device via its own buffer memory. The special function block of the MELSEC-F family uses an asynchronous full-duplex connection without a fixed communication protocol. Typical counterparts named are, for example, computers, barcode readers or printers. The connection is designed as a point-to-point connection with one counterpart and has a maximum transmission distance of 15 m. Seven baud rates are available: 300, 600, 1.200, 2.400, 4.800, 9.600 and 19.200 baud. The send and receive buffer holds 512 bytes or 256 words. The PLC accesses the buffer memory of the module with FROM and TO instructions. ASCII/HEX conversion is available for send and receive data. For order-related procurement with shipping from Germany to the United States and other international destinations, the FX2N-232IF is thus described by RS-232C, buffer memory and this data conversion. In interlink connection mode, data volumes above the buffer size can also be received: the module interrupts the request for further data while the PLC program reads out the receive buffer. The remaining data stream is then accepted. The front 9-pin D-Sub connector carries the associated handshake signals in addition to send and receive data. The POWER, SD and RD indicators show supply, sending and receiving. Internally, the module requires 5 V DC at 40 mA from the PLC and externally 24 V DC with ±10 percent tolerance at 80 mA. Isolation is provided by optocouplers. Eight input or output points are occupied on the extension bus. For mechanical mounting, a 35-mm-DIN rail mount and two mounting holes are provided; the housing measures 55 × 90 × 85 mm.

How does the FX2N-232IF exchange data with the PLC?
The PLC reads and writes the buffer memory of the module with FROM and TO instructions. The send/receive buffer comprises 512 bytes or 256 words.
What applies if an item develops a defect within 14 days?
For the condition categories “Used, removed from an installation” and “New, old stock”, the contractual 14-day right of return in the event of a defect applies. The defect must occur within 14 calendar days after delivery and be reported in text form within the same period.
In particular, the REHA tamper-evident seal must remain fully intact and our RMA approval is required before return. In an accepted case, we decide between replacement and refund. Details in Section 11 of the Terms.
Which shipping methods and delivery times are available?
The shipping method, shipping cost and estimated delivery time are confirmed for the specific order. Depending on the item, destination and urgency, we can check parcel, express or freight shipping as well as collection.
A delivery date is binding only if we expressly confirm it as binding.
Which payment terms apply?
The payment terms stated in the checkout or order confirmation apply. Depending on the order and customer, payment is made in advance or against invoice.
International deliveries and deliveries to new customers are generally made against advance payment unless we expressly confirm another payment arrangement.
Can I return an item ordered incorrectly or found incompatible?
No. There is no general B2B right of return, exchange, cancellation or withdrawal. Incorrect or duplicate orders and a lack of suitability or compatibility with the customer’s installation are not covered by the contractual 14-day right of return in the event of a defect. Details in Section 12 of the Terms.
