Siemens 6ES7 463-2AA00-0AA0 is the IM 463-2 interface module for SIMATIC-S7-400 and distributed connection of SIMATIC-S5 expansion units. It is installed in the S7-400 central rack and acts as the send interface for S5 expansion racks equipped with an IM-314 receive interface. This makes the module relevant to existing systems that are being migrated gradually from S5 to S7-400 or whose S5 I/O must remain in operation during a retrofit. Siemens specifies a maximum cable length of 600 m and connection of up to eight S5 expansion racks, with no more than four on each interface. The documented 721 connection cables are used, and terminating plug 6ES5 760-1AA11 is installed on the final expansion unit in each line. The interface and cable range are set at the front; settings should be changed only while the CPU is in STOP.
