The electrical and optical network connections on the SCALANCE XM408-8C are configured as combo ports. Siemens order number 6GK5408-8GS00-2AM2 identifies a managed, modular Industrial Ethernet switch with eight of these connection groups. Each group provides an RJ45 connection and an SFP slot as alternative transmission paths. Although eight connections of each type are present, the base unit allows a total of eight ports to be used simultaneously. The RJ45 side operates at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbit/s, while the SFP side supports 100 and 1000 Mbit/s. Connection planning therefore needs to distinguish between the number of physical sockets and the number of connections that can be used at the same time. The modular concept allows expansion to up to 24 electrical or optical ports. In the automation network, the switch acts as a PROFINET IO Device. Its network functions include RSTP, VLAN and IGMP. These functions address different aspects of network configuration in addition to forwarding Ethernet data traffic. A Layer-3 extension is available through a KEY-PLUG and should therefore be considered separately from the functions of the base unit. Can all 16 connections be used simultaneously?
No. The eight RJ45 connections and eight SFP slots form eight combo ports. A total of eight ports can be used simultaneously on the base unit.
What applies if an item develops a defect within 14 days?
For the condition categories “Used, removed from an installation” and “New, old stock”, the contractual 14-day right of return in the event of a defect applies. The defect must occur within 14 calendar days after delivery and be reported in text form within the same period.
In particular, the REHA tamper-evident seal must remain fully intact and our RMA approval is required before return. In an accepted case, we decide between replacement and refund. Details in Section 11 of the Terms.
Which shipping methods and delivery times are available?
The shipping method, shipping cost and estimated delivery time are confirmed for the specific order. Depending on the item, destination and urgency, we can check parcel, express or freight shipping as well as collection.
A delivery date is binding only if we expressly confirm it as binding.
Which payment terms apply?

International deliveries and deliveries to new customers are generally made against advance payment unless we expressly confirm another payment arrangement.
Can I return an item ordered incorrectly or found incompatible?
No. There is no general B2B right of return, exchange, cancellation or withdrawal. Incorrect or duplicate orders and a lack of suitability or compatibility with the customer’s installation are not covered by the contractual 14-day right of return in the event of a defect.
