Control Techniques SP2404 is a variable frequency drive from the Unidrive-SP range for demanding industrial drive applications. Frame size 2 is designed for three-phase supply networks from 380 to 480 V AC at 48 to 65 Hz. With 15 kW or 20 HP rated power and 29 A continuous output current, the unit is suitable for machines where an installed SP2404 must be replaced without changing the fundamental power class. For dynamic loads, the range documents overload ratings up to 43.5 A in Open-Loop operation for 60 seconds and up to 50.7 A in Closed-Loop operation for 20 seconds. Unidrive SP supports V/f control, Open-Loop vector control, Closed-Loop control, servo operation and regenerative applications. This allows the same hardware platform to be used in conveyors, winders, pumps, machine tools or positioning axes, provided that motor, encoder and application data match the existing parameter set. The integrated RS-485 interface supports Modbus RTU, while three option slots accommodate additional encoder, communication or application modules. A braking chopper for dynamic braking and DC braking functions are provided as standard. Selectable switching frequencies from 3 to 16 kHz allow motor noise, control performance and thermal load to be balanced. The IP20-/NEMA-1 enclosure is intended for control-cabinet installation. Approximate dimensions of 389 x 155 x 219 mm and a weight of about 7 kg make the mechanical assignment to frame size 2 transparent. Before replacement, the complete type number, supply voltage, motor power, operating mode, option modules and parameter set should be checked. This enables the SP2404 to be procured specifically for existing Unidrive-SP applications and planned maintenance windows.
