Heidenhain 605379-91 is a sealed incremental LS 477 linear encoder for direct position measurement on linear machine axes. ID number 605379-91 identifies the version with a measuring length of 1020 mm. The glass scale has a DIADUR graduation with a 20 µm grating period, and accuracy grade is ±5 µm. Signals are output through a TTL interface. Supply is 5 V ±5 % and current consumption is below 140 mA without load. Required moving force is no more than 5 N, permissible cable length is up to 100 m, and maximum traversing speed is 48 m/min. Measuring step is 0.10 µm and scanning frequency is 40 kHz. The operating-temperature range is 0 °C to 50 °C. Protection is IP 53 when mounted according to the instructions and can reach IP 64 with sealing air. Vibration resistance is up to 100 m/s² and shock resistance up to 300 m/s² for 11 ms. The 1020 mm version has a total length of ML + 138 mm, resulting in 1158 mm. Maximum overall width across the housing and scanning unit is 46.2 mm, and maximum overall height is 28.7 mm. Cable and additional installation clearance are not included. The mass calculation of 0.4 kg plus 0.5 kg per metre of measuring length gives approx. 0.91 kg without cable.
