Product description

For controlled starting and stopping in motor circuits, the ABB PSE72-600-70 provides a rated operational current of 72 A. The softstarter operates in the main circuit at 208 to 600 V AC; its control supply is rated for 100 to 250 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz. The assigned motor power is 18.5 kW at 230 V, 37 kW at 400 V and 45 kW at 500 V. Its PSE design controls two phases and combines voltage ramp with torque control for both start and stop. Adjustable current limiting and a kick-start function are also included. The built-in bypass carries the motor current after ramp-up, eliminating the need for a separate bypass contactor as part of the basic arrangement. Parameters are set directly on the unit through the backlit display and four-button keypad. Electronic motor overload protection provides classes 10, 20 and 30, supplemented by underload, locked-rotor and thyristor overtemperature protection. An analogue output represents the motor current. Coated circuit boards and thermostat-controlled fans form part of the device design. The specified ambient temperature range is −25 to 60 °C. Measuring 90 × 245 × 185.5 mm and weighing 2.5 kg, this 72-A version uses the compact enclosure size shared by the PSE18 to PSE105 ratings.
