The Control Techniques SP0402 belongs to the universal Unidrive SP platform for demanding motor-control duties in machines and production systems. This compact frame-size 0 unit operates from a three-phase 380–480 V supply and provides a maximum continuous current of 1.7 A with a peak current of 2.9 A. Control Techniques assigns this version a typical motor rating of 0.55 kW or 0.75 hp. It is particularly suitable for smaller conveying, positioning, winding and auxiliary axes where an existing Unidrive SP configuration needs to be retained. The platform supports both open-loop operation and closed-loop speed or position control. In open-loop operation, the documented output frequency extends to 3,000 Hz; in closed-loop operation, speed commands up to 40,000 min⁻¹ are supported. A frequency resolution of 0.001 Hz and accuracy of ±0.01 percent of full scale allow finely tuned motion sequences. A two-wire RS485 interface with Modbus RTU or ANSI protocol is available for integration into control architectures. The standard dynamic braking transistor simplifies connection of a suitable braking resistor for short regenerative load cycles. As a frame-size 0 drive, the SP0402 accepts two SM option modules and can therefore be adapted to feedback, communications or additional I/O requirements. For a like-for-like replacement, the complete SP0402 model code, supply class, motor current, installed option modules, feedback device, braking resistor and parameter set must match the existing machine. Motor connections, protection concept and stored drive parameters should also be checked against the machine documentation before commissioning. This supports targeted repair of an established Unidrive SP system without unnecessary changes to the proven machine architecture.

What is the Control Techniques SP0402 used for?
