The Siemens 6SL3055-0AA00-5CA1 is a Sensor Module Cabinet-Mounted SMC30 for SINAMICS-S120 drive systems. It evaluates signals from external motor or machine encoders and sends speed, actual position, rotor position, motor temperature and the reference point to the associated Control Unit via DRIVE-CLiQ. Supported measuring systems include incremental TTL and HTL encoders as well as SSI encoders with incremental tracks. Version 6SL3055-0AA00-5CA1 added SSI support to the SMC30 range and can be operated from firmware 2.4 according to Siemens. The electronics require 24 V DC within the permissible range of 20.4 to 28.8 V. Current consumption is no more than 0.20 A without a measuring system and no more than 0.35 A with a measuring system connected. The encoder can be supplied with 5 V DC including Remote Sense or with a voltage derived from the electronics supply. The module evaluates encoder frequencies up to 500 kHz; Siemens specifies 100 to 250 kHz for SSI transmission. Connection is available through the X520 Sub-D interface or the X521 and X531 terminals. One DRIVE-CLiQ interface links the module to the drive controller. The enclosure has IP20 or IPXXB protection, weighs approximately 0.8 kg and uses an M4 screw tightened to 1.8 Nm for the PE or ground connection. Used hardware version A is offered. According to the product description, a DRIVE-CLiQ cable is not included. Siemens lists the product as discontinued and names 6SL3055-0AA00-5CA2 as its successor. Encoder type, pin assignment, SSI function, firmware level and installation conditions must still be checked together before replacement; the successor reference alone does not establish unverified interchangeability. This SMC30 is intended for focused maintenance of existing SINAMICS-S120 configurations that require the exact article number. Available immediately with worldwide delivery.

Which encoders can the Siemens SMC30 6SL3055-0AA00-5CA1 evaluate?
The module supports incremental TTL and HTL encoders as well as SSI encoders with incremental tracks. The connection method and parameter settings must match the installed encoder and the firmware level of the SINAMICS system.
