The SEW-Eurodrive DFS21B is a PROFINET IO fieldbus interface with PROFIsafe for integrating suitable SEW-Eurodrive drive systems into higher-level automation and safety controllers. The module transfers process and parameter data through PROFINET IO and supports safety-related communication through PROFIsafe. Two RJ45 connections with an internal switch and auto crossing enable a straightforward Ethernet line topology. The interface operates at 100 MBaud in full-duplex mode based on Ethernet II. Alongside PROFINET IO, HTTP and SMLP for MOVITOOLS MotionStudio are available for diagnostics and commissioning; ARP and ICMP are supported as Ethernet services. The external supply at X26 is 24 V DC with a tolerance of -15 to +20 percent. SEW-Eurodrive specifies a maximum current consumption of 200 mA and maximum power consumption of 3.4 W. The F address can be set from 1 to 1022 using DIP switches. For the safety function, the manufacturer documents SIL 3 according to IEC 61508 and PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1. The system structure is 1oo2D, corresponding to a two-channel architecture with diagnostics. The PFHd value is below 1 × 10⁻⁹ per hour, while the stated mission time is 20 years. Which networks and protocols does the DFS21B support?
